Allow your brand to take flight on Twitter thanks to an enhanced profile page, proclaims Twitter about its new launch. The popular networking site has just unveiled a fresh version, which will make it easier to find out what’s new happening now. The redesign includes enhanced ‘brand pages’ for a handful of established brands, some of which have already resorted to Facebook for drawing potential customers. Twitter has now joined the race vigorously to capture their imagination.
What are the major changes that will help brands in their endeavor to grab the attention of people?
- One major development, as mentioned above, is the all-new brand page – a blazing banner below the profile information, stretching right across the page plus the ability to pin a catchy tweet just at top of each brand’s stream. Obviously, this will allow brands to establish a more distinctive and unique presence. You can customize your profile page in your own manner in terms of colors, your messaging, and your logo.
- The pinned tweet is effective for tweets with video or images. With the enhanced design, images and videos can be checked inline within your stream (simply click ‘Open’ on the top right for the tweets with videos or images). On brand pages, the photo or video tweets can be set to be open, thus infusing a visually appealing element to the profile page.
- The new design has three icons right at the top of the page. For starters, a birdhouse icon denotes the home page; an ‘@ Connect’ icon indicates conversations, along with people as well as brands to search for/ follow, whereas a “# Discover” icon suggests keywords and topics.
- In a nutshell, the four key aspects are a newer homepage timeline, a better way of seeing all things related to you, an enhanced interface to easily find context for hashtags, and last but not the least, a much slicker user profile (a fuller-featured one, apparently for brands).
- It is possible to control the message visitors get to see when they first arrive to your page by promoting a Tweet right to the top of your profile page’s timeline. This Tweet will help you clearly highlight your most important and engaging content in order to better connect with the target audience.
- The Promoted Tweet on a profile page appears auto-expanded for visitors to instantly see the video content or photo you link to from your own Tweet. This new page and also the Promoted Tweet are free of charge. Both are accessible for everybody to see.
The crux of all this is to try and keep users on the network longer. Clicking each message will hence reveal the entire chain of conversation attached with it, including photos, responses, reshares (called “retweets) etc. It will prompt users to spend more time, Twitter hopes.
More engagement and more time spent means Twitter becomes potentially more attractive to brand managers and advertisers too.
